Battling Malaria
In 2007, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation challenged the inventors at Intellectual Ventures to create new technologies to fight malaria. IV developed innovative approaches that attack the parasite that causes the disease in addition to making it easier to diagnose. IV technologies also target the mosquitoes that spread malaria. One of IV’s inventions focuses on eradicating mosquitoes by using lasers. This high–speed video demonstrates its effectiveness.
