China’s Emerging Role Apparent at ITT Beijing Conference

April 19, 2011

IV recently sponsored the 2011 International Technology Transfer Beijing Conference held April 14 and 15 at the Beijing International Hotel. The event was an impressive way to announce to the world that China is ready to participate fully in the international market for technology transfer and more than 1,200 attendees filled the halls and meeting rooms throughout the event.

The conference was co-hosted by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), the Chinese Ministry of Science & Technology, Peking University, and the Italian Agency for the Diffusion of Technologies for Innovation. Chief Judge Randall R. Rader of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit entertained and educated the crowd with a lively keynote speech about recent IP law case studies. In addition, multiple technology transfer agreements were signed between companies in China and their new partners in Japan, Italy, the United States and other countries.

IV’s own Nicholas Gibson, director of international marketing, was a speaker on the conference’s panel discussion of IP protection and management.

The event was a great opportunity for IV to interact directly with many of our university inventors and the staff of technology transfer offices in China. It was also a chance for us to connect with Chinese companies that we hope will one day be working closely with our company to help close their invention gaps.
