IV was one of the platinum sponsors for the 2011 Asia IP Exchange, held this past May 29 - 31 at the Sheraton Hotel in Hong Kong. The format is fairly new and novel for an IP conference.
On one hand, it included the requisite presentations from government dignitaries and industry experts, such as our own Dr. Don Merino talking about “Bridging the Invention Gap: Reducing Strategic Risk & Financial Liability.” But it also featured a unique system of one-on-meetings that were set up in advance by the conference organizers. Thanks to this system, IV was able to engage in a very large number of in-depth introductions about how it helps global technology companies bridge their invention gap. We made new relationships with several potential customers and will be following up in the weeks to come to provide more information to these respected global companies.
We felt honored to be an anchor sponsor for what we hope will be a growing conference in Asia. Until recently, most of these types of events have been primarily held in Europe or the United States. But with the quickly expanding need among Asia’s fast-growing technology companies for novel approaches to IP management, the time seems right for a new venue where industry leaders can share best practices as well as “war stories” from the field. This year’s event was no exception, as companies from around the world gathered to learn more about risk management, portfolio management, monetization and how to value a patent. The companies attending this year’s conference represented a number of countries in Asia and beyond, including Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, France, Italy, the United States and India. We look forward to smaller Asia IP exchange gatherings in the coming months in the leading capitals of Asia, including Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing.
