IV in the News

June 18, 2012

From advancing the awareness of STEM education in Washington, to discussing the latest high-profile patent deals on the national stage, this month has already been a busy one for IV and its executives. Here's a snapshot of June's highlights:

  • TechFlash recently profiled Adriane Brown, IV’s President and COO, in advance of her keynote address at a “Women in STEM” (science, technology, engineering and math) event hosted by the Seattle Science Festival. Later this month Adriane will also be honored among STEMconnector’s “100 Women Leaders in STEM,” recognizing women’s efforts to advance the cause of STEM education and jobs. STEMconnector’s stated mission is “to provide information and resources that increase communication, encourage collaboration and promote sustainable and replicable approaches to STEM education interventions.”
  • On May 30, Nathan Myhrvold, IV’s co-founder and CEO, spoke at the 10th annual D: All Things Digital conference, discussing IV’s business model and recent controversies surrounding patents in the technology industry. A full video of his lively conversation with Walt Mossberg is available at All Things D. The following day CBS Morning News also profiled Nathan and his discussion at D10.
  • Earlier this month, Pacific Northwest Magazine spoke with Geoff Deane, head of IV Lab, for a cover story on the Puget Sound’s culture of innovation and what it takes for a company to be truly inventive. The piece points to companies like IV and organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for helping to foster a culture of innovation in Seattle which has led to a 79% growth in patents issued locally since 2006.
  • Six IV employees were included in Intellectual Asset Management Magazine's annual IAM Strategy 300, honoring the world’s leading IP strategists across a broad array of disciplines. IAM Magazine subscribers can view the full list here.
